GoPro HD Hero2 Unboxing

Just got the GoPro HD Hero2. Here’s a quick unboxing video I made (shot on iPhone 4). One of the key components under the hood is the more powerful Ambarella A5s chip. This is a an upgrade from the previous Ambarella A2s. It’s still amazing that these chips can pack even more power!

Count My Change

I recently had a large container of coins that I was ready to cash in on. Problem is, even with today’s technology Citibank and most banks still require their own customers to roll coins and write your account number on each roll. I refuse to pay a retail coin machine (ie Coinstar) 10% for something Citibank should do as a service for its customers. I am not being lazy here, it just doesn’t make sense that my own bank that handles cash and coins every single day can not provide this simple service for its own customers. Fortunately TD Bank seems to be the only bank around that offers coin counting as a free service for its customers (7% for others). So I had a friend who is a TD Bank customer cash them in for me. I called and emailed Citibank and asked them if there was any way they could waive their fee for me (a customer for the last ten years) and their answer was no.

To make this more entertaining I decided to pose a contest for my facebook friends. Closest guess under or over wins $2. It was a fun experiment! Results are in the screenshot below:

This coin counting obsession officially ends with a question I pose on Yahoo Answers : “Why doesn’t my bank have a free coin machine?”.

Last year I decided it would make sense to get some YouTube traffic for ThatSongSoundsLike.com. Using Adobe After Effects I set up a fairly simple template that allows me to import new album art and audio and automatically render the waveforms. Here is the video version of Britney Spears vs. Jermaine Jackson.

Slamdance and Panasonic

In a few weeks I will be heading out to Slamdance in support of CJ Gardella’s film Shunka which will have it’s debut festival screening. We were also recently informed that our pitch for a one minute Panasonic film contest was accepted. We will have the new Panasonic AG-AF100 for one day to shoot during the festival. After some editing heroics it’ll screen on Thursday, January 27th at 11:30am. with the other submissions. A winner will be chosen and the AG-AF100 will be awarded!

I launched a project on Kickstarter.com this week to help fund a music video I am shooting for “Catastrophic Neon Rainbow”. My friend Mark and his 13 year old daughter Casey have been writing music together and I offered to shoot a video for their song “I Had a Bird”. ‘

As of this post we have met and exceeded our goal to raise $400. We could definitely use a few more bucks to help pay for some additional materials (and food!). If you want to help out and get an awesome award check out the project here!

Warner Music Group, Stevie G, Sharp Dressed Man

A few years ago a 24 spoof I created was pulled down from YouTube due to copyright infringement. One of my oldest video was pulled down last month by Warner Music Group due to audio copyright infringement. The video entitled “Stevie G” depicts an unusual moustached fellow (played by myself) taking a stroll to the supermarket set to the 80′s ZZ-Top hit Sharp Dressed Man. Fortunately YouTube now offers “Audio Swap” which lets you swap out the audio with one of their approved music tracks. Unfortunately for Stevie G this really changes the vibe.
