I launched a project on Kickstarter.com this week to help fund a music video I am shooting for “Catastrophic Neon Rainbow”. My friend Mark and his 13 year old daughter Casey have been writing music together and I offered to shoot a video for their song “I Had a Bird”. ‘

As of this post we have met and exceeded our goal to raise $400. We could definitely use a few more bucks to help pay for some additional materials (and food!). If you want to help out and get an awesome award check out the project here!

Warner Music Group, Stevie G, Sharp Dressed Man

A few years ago a 24 spoof I created was pulled down from YouTube due to copyright infringement. One of my oldest video was pulled down last month by Warner Music Group due to audio copyright infringement. The video entitled “Stevie G” depicts an unusual moustached fellow (played by myself) taking a stroll to the supermarket set to the 80’s ZZ-Top hit Sharp Dressed Man. Fortunately YouTube now offers “Audio Swap” which lets you swap out the audio with one of their approved music tracks. Unfortunately for Stevie G this really changes the vibe.

Sometimes you come across something brilliant on YouTube that makes you think, “Why didn’t I think of that?” So you become inspired and make your own. StSanders is a true video remixing pioneer who has been denied Fair Use .

“In what has to be the lamest copyright-related takedown in the history of YouTube, someone or something has removed those excellent parody videos that paired video footage of famous guitarists “shredding” with expertly-done amateurish guitar buffoonery.”

I guess you can only get away with remixing copyrighted material for so long. Last year I made a few remixes of the Fox television show depicting “MySpace Tom” as a criminal. I thought they were rather humerous. I reposted the video YouTube is referring to here.
