I spent Saturday helping out CJ’s film crew shoot some amazing HD footage in beautful Roxbury, CT. The Phantom HD (pictured above) shoots 1 to 1,000 fps in HD. It’s a pretty amazing experience to see an insect fly in frame for a split second and then immediately be able to see this detail more than thirty times slower. This is definitely the future of cinema. Here’s a set of photos of the shoot here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/keithhopkin/sets/72157621999583736/

A few years ago a 24 spoof I created was pulled down from YouTube due to copyright infringement. One of my oldest video was pulled down last month by Warner Music Group due to audio copyright infringement. The video entitled “Stevie G” depicts an unusual moustached fellow (played by myself) taking a stroll to the supermarket set to the 80’s ZZ-Top hit Sharp Dressed Man. Fortunately YouTube now offers “Audio Swap” which lets you swap out the audio with one of their approved music tracks. Unfortunately for Stevie G this really changes the vibe.

Excerpted from email from YouTube:
“…A copyright owner has claimed it owns some or all of the audio content in your video Stevie G. The audio content identified in your video is Sharp Dressed Man by ZZ Top. We regret to inform you that your video has been blocked from playback due to a music rights issue…”
“This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by WMG.”

I thought for sure that nobody in the rest of the world entered this contest. Dana Sink of Harrisburg, PA just sent me their entry. Back in 1999 some friends and I entered a “make your own commercial” contest for Country Crock Spread. Sounds familiar in today’s viral web marketing world, but back then it wasn’t an easy thing to do. Part of the fun today is that you can see everyone else’s entries.
Here’s mine:

Valleywag.com happened to grab my clip “Morning Commute” as an example of “Vimeo’s Beauty”.
